Dr. Rashid Ali Laghari is a foreign teacher at Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University, where he serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Intelligent Manufacturing. He specializes in Finite Element Analysis and predictive modeling and optimization of the machining process, difficult-to-cut Metal Matrix Composite materials, Fabrication of SiCp/Al Metal Matrix Composite Materials through powder metallurgy and functionally graded ceramic cutting tool inserts, Internet of things (IoT), Industrial Internet of things (IIoT), Intelligent manufacturing, Robotic Technology, Soft computing, process monitoring of CNC machines. 3D printing and 4D printing of smart materials, and composite materials, Laser additive manufacturing of composite materials.

 Dr. Rashid Ali completed his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management in Pakistan, followed by a Master's. He obtained PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China. In 2021, He joined the Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the College of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing, China. Later in 2022, he joined another Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. In 2024 he started working as an Assistant Professor in Sindh Institute of Management and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan. Where he taught courses such as Mechanics of Machines and Materials, Solid Mechanics, and Manufacturing Processes.

His research has led to the publication of more than 45 Research articles including 6 international conferences in the USA, Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. He has published in various SCI journals with over 1600 citations with an H-index of 20, and i10 index of 27.

Dr. Rashid has also hosted a research project funding at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals. The research grant is funded by the KFUPM Internal Funded Grant (DSR), Research project in King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, the Deanship for research oversight and coordination, and the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics for the support under project INMR2103. And co-hosted a research project funding the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Research Fund for International Young Scientists
